Role Overview:

Our solutions need to integrate with, and then replace, physical networks that currently provide seamless support to millions of national and international users while creating a launch pad for new opportunities in the marketplace.

As the lead Architect on NFV-MANO, you will drive solutions across all of our services, working with senior leadership teams and cross-functional teams to realize the promises of virtualization and automation. You will create fresh new approaches on how to support our customers and services, reinventing and re-designing the Management and Orchestration (MANO) architecture of our Openstack based NFVi platform. You will be an active participant in industry development organizations, driving next generation networks and services for TELUS. In tune with vendor developments, virtualization trends, methodologies, and deployments, you will bring your expertise into developing best in class virtualization infrastructure software and design.

The TELUS Technology Strategy - Cloud Enablement team is at the forefront of virtualization technologies. With software defined infrastructure, network function virtualization (NFV) and orchestration we are providing foundational technologies and support across all TELUS services. This team provides a fast paced, dynamic environment, keeping you at the edge of this emerging technology. Reporting into the Manager of Network Function Virtualization you'll be joining a nationally distributed team working towards "making virtual... reality".

Responsibilities:
    •Set technology direction for the evolution of TELUS' NFV MANO infrastructure and services to enable auto-provisioning, auto-recovery and auto-scaling similar to private cloud •Lead & drive our MANO architecture to enable business objectives improving efficiency, operational support, and instrumentation •Actively participate in the industry by following technology trends, evaluating maturity and enterprise readiness for products and technologies, and recommending solutions for implementation •Drive, influence and present technology recommendations with senior level executives and stakeholders to ensure adoption of the TELUS pod solution •Identify and communicate impacts and outcomes of MANO evolution to various groups across TELUS; collaborate with teams throughout the organization to drive alignment on strategy & implementation •Drive implementation and support of the MANO architecture •Use industry best practices to communicate capabilities and solicit operational requirements of function tenants to deliver exceptional tenant experience


Qualifications:


Knowledge/skills/experience:
    •Expertise designing architectural solutions and building strategic roadmaps for transformational software development initiatives •Extensive experience in software virtualization (OpenStack, VMware, KVM, libvirt), with strong knowledge of NFV & YANG Model •Extensive experience working with Network Element protocols (TL1, CLI, SNMP, NetConf), and network management systems •Strong knowledge of networking and security functions related to virtualization of software & services •Ability to drive and adopt Agile development methodologies and tools •Knowledge of industry trends and standards, evolving software development and architecture concepts •Strong working knowledge of REST API and HEAT templates •Excellent communications and presentation skills for senior executive level audiences •Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to drive architecture solutions •Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Minimum 10 years IT software development experience, with 3 years in an Architecture role developing roadmaps and driving complex technology solutions
