NetZero Solar is seeking a highly experienced Solar Technician or Electrician to lead advanced solar installations across Southern Vancouver Island. This position is tailored for a candidate with at least five (5) years of hands-on experience in solar PV system installation, battery integration, and advanced electrical troubleshooting.

We specialize in cutting-edge residential and commercial projects that demand expert knowledge of diverse inverter systems, battery technologies, rooftop configurations, and current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC 2024) compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Plan, install, and commission grid-tied solar PV systems, ensuring full CEC 2024 compliance.
• Integrate and configure battery backup systems, including:
• Enphase IQ Battery systems
• APsystems Battery Packs
• EG4 LiFePO4 rack-mount battery systems
• Install and service microinverter and string inverter technologies from:
• Enphase, APsystems, Hoymiles, Fronius, Solaredge, SMA, and SOLIS
• Lead complex electrical tie-ins, service upgrades, and inverter commissioning.
• Work with flat-roof mounting equipment, including:
• Unirac EcoFoot2+
• Fast-Rack’s Avenue S ballasted systems
• Troubleshoot complex electrical faults using advanced diagnostic tools and system monitoring platforms.
• Conduct site assessments, layout optimization, and CEC-compliant wiring designs.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation and electrical work.
• Deep familiarity with:
• Microinverter-based system layouts (multi-vendor)
• String inverter systems (commercial and residential)
• Battery-based hybrid and backup systems
• Proven experience working with flat-roof and pitched-roof mounting technologies.
• Thorough knowledge of the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), especially as it relates to renewable energy.
• Must have experience in troubleshooting live systems and performing service calls.
• Experience in multi-tenant and commercial solar applications is a significant asset.
• Able to interpret single-line diagrams, site plans, and electrical schematics with high accuracy.
• Ability to work independently in high-responsibility roles with minimal supervision.
• Multilingual communication skills are considered a strong asset, as we often work with diverse teams and clients across different cultural and language backgrounds.

Bonus Skills (Preferred, but not required)

• Journeyperson Electrician (Red Seal or BC TQ)
• Electrical FSR Certification
• NABCEP Certification or equivalent
• Fall arrest and lift training (valid certifications)
• Off-grid and generator hybrid integration experience
