What UBC is looking for:

We are looking to fill the role of Senior Project Manager on the IRP Ecosystem Delivery team. This individual will manage all aspects of the development and implementation of large, multifaceted projects and takes projects from original concept through to final implementation.

In addition to the focused responsibility for work IRP Ecosystem Delivery team is responsible for, the Senior Project Manager will ensure collaboration, engagement and management of work that other IRP teams require with Student Solution team. In doing so, the incumbent will direct and coordinate a cross-functional team and manages inter-project dependencies and communication.

The incumbent will develop and oversee project plans, schedules, resources, budgets and establishes metrics to monitor the quality of deliverables and the level of customer satisfaction. The Senior Project Manager will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including University senior management.

As part of the Student Delivery Centre, the Ecosystem Delivery team focuses on the required IT & Business Changes to ensure business continuity for the impacted UBC ecosystem. There are three standard change types associated with Ecosystem delivery for in scope applications:

  • Retrofits - Code & integration changes to legacy 
  • Integration - Common service subscription or bespoke API builds
  • Sunsets - Decommissioning of an application as its functionality is replaced with Workday and/or other applications.

The ideal candidate has undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Post-graduate degree may be required for specialized positions. Minimum of 9 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Supervisory experience may be required. Technical expertise in a highly specialized area required.

About the program:

UBC has embarked on a multi-year journey to transform its academic and administrative support processes and system environments for the entire UBC community. Following the successful completion of major renewal projects related to UBC’s Human Resources and Finance systems under the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) in 2020, work is now underway for the next stage of IRP - to renew the Student information ecosystem, anchored by the implementation of Workday Student. 

The Integrated Renewal Program – Student (IRP Student) will leverage the industry-leading cloud enterprise solution, Workday, to replace UBC’s current core Student administration systems with a new integrated, user-friendly, mobile-enabled platform. This project has a high degree of complexity, influence, and impact as our solution is designed for the majority of constituents in the UBC community. UBC is one of the first Canadian institutions to implement Workday for this purpose.
