Position Overview:

The Business Customer Experience (BCX) strategy and enablement team in TELUS is looking for a seasoned senior project manager to lead the execution of our key strategic programs that will enable TELUS Business Solutions to better serve our business customers. We are seeking an exceptional individual with strong project management & execution skills. We work extensively with external partners, technical, go-to-market, and operations teams, so you will gain an appreciation for the business, end to end.

Reporting to the Manager - BCX PMO, the Senior Project Manager's primary mandate is to manage key cross-functional strategic initiatives through strong delivery governance and risk management.

You will be accountable for evaluating, planning, and coordinating delivery of cross-functional strategic projects with significant corporate risk and strategic business impact. You will also work with an extended team to monitor cost, evaluate schedule and allocate resources. To be successful, you will have the ability to combine advanced project management techniques with significant project experience in a large, complex business environment to drive key transformational business change.

Additional responsibilities will be managing projects of significant size, scope, and complexity primarily focused on improving the business service development value chain.


Project Management:
    •Accountable for evaluating, planning, and implementing complex strategic projects, ensuring critical deliverables are met; employ effective project and change management methodologies in managing risks and change •Lead the team to define project scope, objectives, secure appropriate resources; develop schedules to ensure timely completion of key strategic cross-functional projects •Ensure control of projects/work streams: dealing with conflicting priorities, issues, risks, dependencies and change •Balance the demands of concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of diplomacy •Champion project management best practices and process improvements •Manage project actions and escalate issues to senior management when appropriate •Drive the development of business cases to secure strategic project funding and track financials on a monthly basis through execution

Relationship Management:
    •Interact with a broad stakeholder base across the value chain (including executives); apply exceptional leadership skills in managing expectations, mitigating risk and removing roadblocks •Report project execution and financial health on a regular basis to senior executives •Direct and provide guidance and ongoing support to team members throughout all critical project phases including regular feedback and coaching; delegate specific objectives to team members


Required Knowledge:
    •Experienced in implementing projects in a complex Telecom/IT business environment •Knowledge of the Business Customer Experience Team, Functions and Value Chain Partners •Ability to interpret corporate strategies and translate them into practical project plans •Expert organization management (planning, budgeting and staff management) •Expert proficiency with project management methodologies and tools •Ability to formulate stakeholder assessment, engagement and obtain buy-in strategies and execution •Knowledge and experience preparing and presenting presentation to senior audiences •Fair process methodologies •Strong business acumen and financial/business case practices •Strong impact and influence skills without authority •Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with all levels of cross functional teams

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment •Proficient in financial analysis, budget management, reporting, and modeling skills •Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills •Highly self-directed with ability to take initiative •Excellent negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including demonstrated ability to successfully deal with all forms of conflict (e.g. people, resourcing, priorities, circular dependencies) •Effectively liaises with all levels of management •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Excellent analytical and decision making skills •Strong process management skills including creation and change management •Omni-channel/digital program strategy and execution knowledge/experience would be an asset

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •University degree in Business Administration/Management/IT is preferred •PMP designation •In-depth understanding of the project management methodologies, principles and practices

Required Experience:
    •Minimum of 7+ years of experience managing all phases of complex projects including complex cross-functional process improvement projects •Experience with large projects acting as the accountable project prime
