TELUS is proud to support local communities and content creators through the stories we tell and content we create. Through the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) funding, the TELUS Local Content team provides production grants, training, live streaming and distribution opportunities to diverse filmmakers and content creators in BC and Alberta. We distribute these stories to over one million TELUS Optik TV customers as well as to audiences online. We are focused on empowering underrepresented organizations, communities and individuals, empowering them to tell their stories through our STORYHIVE and Community Content programs.

Expertise of our team is built by folks who bring a variety of identities and lived experiences, as well as professional experience in film/TV production, marketing, community building, equity and more.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

The Senior Program Manager will focus on the strategic direction and operations of our Content, Community and Training programs for our Local Content portfolio. Working closely with the Content Program Leads as well as community partners, you will design and facilitate training and mentorship programs for content creators in addition to designing and launching the annual STORYHIVE programs.

You'll also help us establish a Community Advisory Board and continue to evolve our Community Capacity Grants Program, developing and nurturing partnerships with external community partners to support content creation and distribution. You will use industry and community research and identify opportunities to deliver differentiated outreach, training, community programming solutions in alignment with the CRTC and Local Content priorities.

Here's how
    •Lead and designs all STORYHIVE training initiatives through experiential workshops, practical resources, and mentorship for emerging filmmakers and new content creators •Establish and lead three Community Advisory Boards in Vancouver, Edmonton & Calgary, ensuring representation and ties to our larger serving regions •Design and launch an annual STORYHIVE Community Voices program centered around access, representation and locally reflective stories for all communities in BC and AB •Oversee the Community Capacity Grants Program through partnerships and disbursement of funds to support content creation and capacity building amongst content creators •Establish relationships with TV and film industry partners from festivals to production funding bodies to effectively build inclusive legacy programs that increase the visibility of underrepresented communities in production and media •Strategically connect contemporary media, TV and film industry practices and trends as well as cultural movements at large to existing TELUS portfolios to amplify our company's social purpose •Successfully develop and track key performance metrics (including community programming minutes of content), resolve challenges, and deliver differentiated customer solutions in alignment with Local Programming priorities •Lead the creation of executive presentations to help achieve buy-in, manage expectations and increase transparency

    •Experienced in designing training curriculum and corresponding training materials •Demonstrated track record of engaging community through capacity building, grants and leading community boards •Known for building trust and connection within the local TV and film industry through community building strategies and practices •Known for your ability to project manage and work in a highly-collaborative and cross-functional setting •Recognized for your strong all-round communication expertise (including experience communicating directly with senior leadership), with a keen ability to form and sell ideas and influence outcomes •Valued for your leadership in developing and executing strategy and develop creative solutions where challenges are presented •Commitment to supporting storytellers and stories from traditionally underrepresented communities including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, persons with disabilities, women and new Canadians •Deeply passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion, and open to incorporating inclusive best practices into work every day
