New year? New Position? New you! 2018 will be an exciting year for Hyperwallet as we move into our brand-new office at the LEED-Platinum Exchange Tower in Downtown Vancouver, and we continue our journey to pay the planet. Working closely with Hyperwallet’s Talent & Culture and Accounting Team, the Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing payroll for over 300 employees in Canada, United States, UK, Ireland, and Australia.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried, hourly and commission employees based in Canada in a timely and accurate manner
  • Liaise with our payroll partners to process payroll in the USA, UK, Ireland, and Australia
  • Process and input payroll changes for new hires, transfers/promotions and terminations in the unified HR/Payroll systems
  • Administer benefits enrollments and terminations
  • Administrate hourly pay and overtime timesheets for semi-monthly payroll
  • Administer company RRSP, 401K, and equity programs
  • Reconcile recurring payroll and benefit accounts and statements (general payroll and Receiver General remittances, and benefits insurance statements)
  • Report and submit payments for WCB and ensure compliance in Canada and other countries
  • Verify and process invoices for payroll and benefits vendors
  • Partner with Accounting to prepare payroll related journal entries and adjustments
  • Assist with payroll G/L account reconciliations, year-end working paper preparation, and annual audits
  • Produce ongoing reports as requested and to analyze data integrity and complete monthly audits for accuracy
  • Complete T4’s, W-2’s, ROE’s, and other government forms
  • Remain up to date and knowledgeable on Canadian, USA, UK, Ireland, and Australian payroll rules and regulations
  • Provide friendly customer service to employees regarding their pay inquiries including creating employment verification letters and responding to employment verification requests
  • Provide information to managers to assist them with human resources budgeting
  • Other Accounting and HR duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a Canadian and US Payroll administration function;
  • Payroll Certification/Designation: Canadian Payroll Association PCP & CPM; US Payroll Association: CPP and FPC an asset
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices involving salaried, hourly, sales commission employees
  • Advanced skills in standard office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with an in-house customized Payroll/HRIS (UltiPro an added bonus!)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Well organized with superior attention to detail
  • Ability to manage handle high volume workload and balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to work accurately with figures
  • Experience with creating process improvement and efficiency
