We are seeking a Senior Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Operations
, to lead and provide direction to a team of 55 skilled trades' individuals along with contracted specialized service providers. You will lead the daily operational management and maintenance of a 158,000 square meter specialized tertiary acute care facility residing on a 19 hectares health care campus, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, serving the population of British Columbia.
Children's & Women's Health Centre of British Columbia is made up of British Columbia's Children's Hospital, British Columbia's Women's Hospital and Health Centre, and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children. As a teaching hospital and major provincial resource, C&W has three main roles: patient care, education and research.
C&W's services include:
•Caring for B.C.'s most acutely ill or injured children •Providing developmental and rehabilitation services to children throughout B.C. •Offering the full assortment of health services required by child- bearing women and their babies •Providing a broad range of specialized health programs •Educating and training students in a wide range of health professions •Conducting research to advance health and care, supported by the Child Family Research Institute, which is operated in partnership with the University of British Columbia

Why is this role important to us? You will provide support to C&W's executive leadership, as a member of their senior leadership team, whereby you will act as the Facilities Management domain expert, providing advice on site infra-structure issues pertaining to the advancement of the campus clinical mission.
Build on your education and career experience as you:
•Conduct, develop and implement department goals, objectives and operational requirements consistent with the LMFM's objectives and C&W's clinical mission. You will review current operations and develop appropriate systems and processes to confirm effective and efficient facilities operations, enhancing the delivery of care through innovation and your leadership. •Develop, implement and manage the annual operating and capital budget for C&W. This includes monthly financial reporting to PHSA Finance. •Manage recruitment, mentoring and professional development of staff and contract employees. You will supervise staff and provide work direction and assignment of duties. You will be responsible for conducting performance evaluations and mentoring of employees, and identify training/educational requirements. •Oversee development and continuous improvement of maintenance programs. You will apply planning/scheduling techniques and risk-mitigation strategies to ensure effective delivery of preventive, predictive and responsive maintenance. •Provide mentorship and feedback to the LMFM Planning & Project team on all stages of planning and implementation for all construction and renovation activities scheduled for campus. This includes the following: review of business cases, conceptual plans, design development, schematic designs, specifications and tender documents, construction implementation, commissioning, and post occupancy reviews.
Are you passionate about joining us? We are looking for you to have:
•a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field •seven (7) to ten (10) years recent, related progressive supervisory and management experience in a large complex unionized environment •an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable

•excellent interpersonal skills •the ability to clearly and concisely articulate information with the capability to customize information according to the audience •excellent technical writing abilities and are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications •knowledge of business finances in a facilities management environment
