Senior Maintenance Manager: Harvey 2379

  • The successful candidate will join our growing manufacturing operation and lead, the Mechanical and Electrical reliability of equipment, capital projects, and front-line maintenance personnel, and contractors.
  • The ideal candidate would be “hands-on” when necessary, analytical when it comes to solving problems, passionate about producing quality product, and strategic in planning and executing objectives for the Maintenance Team.
  • This position requires an individual who is comfortable working both on the factory floor with maintenance personnel, production personnel as well as in the office with management. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leading a maintenance group and establishing group objectives, priorities and milestones
  • Develop and manage effective maintenance systems (e.g. CMMS, preventative maintenance systems, work order systems,  etc) for all equipment and facilities to meet the demand, and availability of critical spare parts
  • Purchasing and administration of production equipment, parts and tools
  • Responsible for the budget of the Maintenance Department and taking part in the drafting of these
  • Providing guidance and mentoring in areas of product and process development
  • Ensuring that the products are amenable to high volume manufacturing thus meeting quality, cost and delivery requirements
  • Establishing manufacturing and assembly procedures, designing tooling, jigs & fixtures, specifying equipment and facilities to support development and production
  • Selecting suppliers that have capabilities that can be leveraged to support the development of the company
  • Developing the documentation necessary to provide quality and traceability of manufactured Equipment components such as: BOMs, part and assembly drawings and testing procedures
  • Develop the companies’ manufacturing processes, and implement plans to improve equipment and technical systems to guarantee their effectiveness
  • Responsible for the reliability and effectiveness of all equipment, technical systems, buildings and premises to enable mass production
  • Give technical assistance to all technicians, production workers
  • Assist in environment related issues
  • Manage work operations for technicians and third parties by establishing and implementing objectives, and methods for effective and safe maintenance (e.g. Lockout procedures etc.)
  • Initiate training and instructions for all technicians
  • Proactively participate in company safety program
  • Analyze downtime, review and develop changes and adjustments to minimize them
  • Display commitment to excellence by looking for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Is involved in the HR process as to the personnel management of the Maintenance Department
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives

 

 Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
  • Good project management background that includes effective problem solving skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing principles such as Lean and TOC (ie// value stream mapping, pull systems, 5S, set-up reduction, etc) and ability to apply in different manufacturing situations


Experience: 

  • 10 years practical experience in a product manufacturing environment that includes product development through innovative engineering, product commercialization and operational leadership
  • Experience with fabrication, machining and assembly of mechanical components and equipment is mandatory
  • Working knowledge of tool and die, metal forming  an asset

Educational Requirements: 

  • P. Eng., Mechanical Engineer or similar or
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineer designation preferred but not essential 

 

This is a fulltime position 

Salary is open, depending on working experience
