JOB DESCRIPTION Duties:

Based out of Vancouver, BC Hydro Generation Engineering's Site C Project has an immediate opening for a Senior Civil/Geotech/Geological Engineer on the Main Civil Works Contract (MCW), who would be interested in contributing their knowledge and developing their abilities within the Site C Project's (The Project) Owner's Engineering Team (OE Team).

The successful candidate will play an integral part of the OE Team to: 1) manage the evolution of the MCW design through construction and 2) manage the receipt of the Engineer of a Record (EOR) drawings from the Engineering Design Team(EDT). The EOR drawings will form a key part of the Project's turnover package to BC Hydro Operations and are the permanent record for the contractor constructed works and document that they are in conformance with contract documents, including: scope, quality and schedule. 3) assist the commercial team with technical support.

Specific duties include:

* Develop a strong understanding of the design basis for the scope of work and contract scope/ specifications/Issued for construction (IFC) drawings. * Manage, prioritize and track the release of new design scope to the EDT resulting from: found conditions in the field, changes with contractor's work sequence and value engineering proposal recommendations of the Technical Advisory Board. * Ensure IFC drawings meet BC Hydro's drawing standards and are delivered on time and according to B.C. Hydro's end feature asset management structure. * Oversee the development of the end feature asset management database.

* Prepare and deliver technical presentations to Project stakeholders/regulators. Qualifications:

* Holds a degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities. * Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC). * A minimum of 8 years' experience in a relevant engineering field. * Relevant design and/or construction experience in some of the following areas: o Large scale overburden and shale bedrock excavations; o Shale bedrock foundation treatment; o Shale bedrock grouting; o GIS models and drawing systems; o Stratified rock tunnelling; o Rock support; o Zoned embankment dams; * Strong written and verbal English communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. * Ability to understand multi-discipline design concepts depicted on construction drawings. * Working safely, including promotion of a safety above all else culture in the work place. * Mentoring/developing junior technical staff. * Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * Please note this is a Full Time Temporary position until approximately December, 2023. * A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain a Driver's License: Class 5 in Good Standing. * Applicants with lesser qualifications and relevant experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered at the appropriate level.
