As a Senior Design Specialist in the Network Integrity & Voice team, you will be responsible for the testing, introduction and Tier 3 support of new technology and services in the TELUS Voice & Services DevOps organization. You will specialize in voice services over Internet Protocol (IP) technologies and will be expected to perform troubleshooting, testing, and installation tasks, or liaise with technical peers and project managers to ensure these tasks are completed. This is an individual contributor position, however, you will lead by influence and collaborate with other areas at TELUS and interact with senior leadership on a regular basis.

Here's how
    •Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, outside vendors, etc., to provide technical assistance and support •Maintaining network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance •Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives •Monitoring and patching of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services •Managing hardware and software upgrades, ensuring complete lab testing and implementing with an objective of no customer impact •Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services •24x7 on-call for network implementation and support •Network inventory management: hardware, software, and circuit inventory •Take ownership of network or related issues, as part of a team, and works with 3rd parties, Network Analysts, and where appropriate the Network Manager to determine a strategic approach to resolution •Act as a network project manager for network related projects •Provide recommendation to the architecture team based on analysis of the project and business requirement •Developing test plans & method of procedures (MOPs) for the acceptance and execution of network installations


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Expert understanding of voice over IP (VoIP) platforms including but not limited to the following: Ribbon C20, A2, PVG, G9, G6, SBCs, BroadSoft BroadWorks, Oracle SBCs, NFV •Expert understanding of networking protocols including but not limited to: SIP, H.248, IP, SIGTRAN, SS7 •Mandatory advanced knowledge and sufficient experience in VoIP networks •Knowledge and active Support of succession telephony networks: CS2k, C20, PVG, IWSPM •Knowledge and active support of legacy telephony networks: DMS-100/200, 5ESS, GTD5 •Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft (MS) Visio and other MS Office •Mandatory advanced knowledge and experience in complex network infrastructure in both dedicated and shared infrastructure using multiple key manufacture technologies: Ericcson, Genband, Cisco, Oracle, Juniper, STPs, SBCs, telephony switches, routers, switches, and sniffer protocol analyzer •Mandatory experience in various Telecom facilities in both voices and data: LANs, MPLS, Frame Relay, Datapac, ISDN, DSL, Wireless, ATM, voice T1, etc •Able to perform multiple, technical, highly complex tasks without need to regularly upgrade skills to meet dynamic job conditions •Review and interpret complex technical information and analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions and provide a final solution •Able to schedule activities and meetings; gather and collate data, independently •Demonstrated ability to effectively manage/control a technical bridge to quickly restore service during a service outage •Advanced knowledge and experience in technical architecture design: STPs, SBCs routers, switches, firewalls, protocol flows, and hands-on experience with middleware server components: Sun, IBM and HP servers •University degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and industry experience •10+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry •8+ years of VoIP operational experience
