Who- the Company: 
Our client is a Vancouver-based distributor with an impressive roster of customers. They create and distribute high quality products. The organization has ambitious growth plans over the next 5 years and they are hiring self-motivated people who want to be part of the company’s bright future.

What- the Role:
Our client is seeking an analytical and business-minded Controller who is happy being both hands-on and strategic. Reporting directly into the CEO and mentoring 2 junior-level direct reports (AP and AR), the Controller will have the opportunity to make a significant and long-lasting impact on the business.
The Controller will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reports and analyses and for providing the CEO with business decision support making in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities of this role are diverse and will evolve with time, but the key areas include: inventory costing, SKU analysis (600+ SKUs!), bill of materials creation, financial reporting (ASPE), period-end close, working with external auditors, and scheduled and ad hoc financial analysis. Additionally, the Controller will optimize the use of the company’s new ERP. The Controller will also use Excel and PowerBI for cost analysis, costing, and pricing. 

Who- the Candidate:
Qualified candidates for this role will have a strong technical accounting background and relevant experience working in an inventory-based industry(preferably in B2B distribution). We are seeking well-rounded professionals with strong technical accounting and finance skills who truly understand the business of distribution and inventory management. The right person for this role will love a diverse portfolio of responsibilities spanning cost accounting, inventory costing, corporate accounting, financial systems, and financial planning & analysis.

• Finance experience in an inventory-based environment is required (manufacturing, retail, etc.).
• Relevant post-secondary education such as a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA designation (or International equivalent)
• 5+ years’ work experience in accounting & finance.
• Ability to coach, lead, and mentor 2 accounting clerks to develop their skills and capabilities.
• Proficiency using an ERP and executing ongoing improvements to the various modules in the system.
• Very strong Excel skills are required, including hands-on use of advanced formulas and functions. Experience with PowerBI is highly preferred.
• Robust analytical and problem solving skills.

Where:
The company is located in Vancouver. For now, this is envisioned as a full-time on-site role so that the Controller can work closely with the CEO, the Operations Manager, the warehouse & distribution staff, the AP and AR clerks, etc.
