Role Description

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for overseeing day to day accounting activities, maintaining the general ledger, and month end close cycle.  In addition to that, this role will manage internal control and compliance with standards. Principal accountabilities are:

Planning

  1. Assist in the development, implementation and management of financial strategies 
  2. Support corporate finance for local jurisdictional requirements

Operations

  1. Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements
  2. Project manage the month-end close process
  3. Oversee the accounting team (Cash, Receivables and Credit, Payables, and Payroll)
  1. Coordinating, preparing and reviewing G/L account reconciliations
  2. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  3. Facilitate the year-end close procedures

Financial Information

  1. Responsible for the general ledger including setting up new accounts and maintenance of the GL
  2. Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements
  3. Management of fixed assets & leases
  4. Maintain intercompany balances including full reconciliations
  1. Support corporate initiatives as required

Risk Management

  1. Lead and maintain internal control processes and documentation
  2. Support business unit compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  3. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  4. Provides support during external audit including review of findings and recommendations

Funding

  1. Prepare and coordinate treasury transactions including bank and internal reporting requirements

  3. Able to influence and motivate employees within the business unit while holding them accountable to commitments

Desired Qualifications: The Senior Accountant should have a degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of experience with a manufacturing company. Preference will be given to candidates with a recognized and current accounting designation.

Working Conditions:  The candidate will work at the local business unit and occasionally will be asked to travel to the corporate headquarters. A valid passport and drivers licence is required.
