Position Description: 

G&F Financial Group is looking for an experienced and energetic accounting professional to join our Corporate Finance team as Senior Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent will bring financial expertise and leadership skills to contribute professional advice and sound accounting expertise while providing day-to-day supervision, guidance, and direction to junior members of the accounting team. This is a fantastic developmental opportunity for a recently- or soon-to-be-designated CPA to take their skills and leadership to the next level.



  • Prepares and reviews financial statements, statistical reports, reconciliations and external compliance reports for the credit union and subsidiary in accordance with established accounting standards and statutory requirements
  • Facilitates internal and external audit examinations for the credit union and subsidiary; acts as a liaison with the external auditors
  • Administers setup/adjustments to general ledger system parameters; assists credit union staff on administrative system issues and inquiries
  • Reviews work of junior accounting staff, provides mentorship, coaches and identifies developmental opportunities
  • Recommends, develops and establishes efficiencies in accounting and internal control procedures; participates in and/or leads special analyses and projects as assigned


Qualifications Required 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

  • 5 years’ progressive accounting experience, preferably in a credit union or other financial institution
  • CPA or equivalent accounting designation is preferred; candidates who are in the final stages of obtaining designation will also be considered
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience with mentoring and coaching junior staff; previous supervisory experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), demonstrated attention to detail and sound judgment and problem solving abilities
  • Technical proficiency with various software programs including MS Office Suite with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems; advanced proficiency with MS Excel is required
