About the team and position:

This position is part of the Global Licensing (GL) team whose mandate is to determine inbound licensing standards and manage inbound third-party intellectual property (TPIP) for SAP. The candidate will be supporting GL’s initiatives through the development of mission-critical web tools and, through these efforts, gain hands-on knowledge about SAP’s software standards and approval processes. The candidate will be responsible for liaising directly with development teams and other stakeholders located across the globe to deliver on project goals in a timely fashion. As a part of these projects, the candidate may also be expected to create content or migrate data related to licensing compliance while ensuring data quality.

The candidate should have a working knowledge of full stack web development, UI & UX design, programming, and information/database management. This position requires working independently, achieving tight timelines, and collaboration across teams including development, legal, and compliance teams.

What you’ll do:

Position Title: SAP iXp Intern, Web Developer

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Expected start date to end date: May 4, 2020 – January 1, 2021

  • Develop, test, and maintain various tools as required by the team
  • Work with stakeholders to gather use cases and requirements
  • Identify and present proposals on opportunities for process and tool improvement
  • Demonstrate interest, knowledge, and curiosity in the area of inbound TPIP licensing
  • Gain an understanding of software approval processes and its data integrity requirements
  • Develop project plans and manage projects autonomously
  • Assist in other duties consistent with GL’s initiatives

  • Active enrollment in a computer science or software engineering degree program
  • Strong ability to document and present changes in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to address technical challenges and troubleshoot technical issues through coding
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Highly self-disciplined and self-motivated individual with positive work attitude
  • Excellent team player showing initiative, interest and passion in producing high quality work
  • Great written and verbal communication skills suitable for a professional work environment
  • Good track record of developing creative solutions to novel problems
  • Passion for technology and software development
  • Can commit for 8-month full time internship from the start date indicated in this posting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong ability to debug full-stack applications and test APIs
  • Strong working knowledge of Java (or at least one other object-oriented language) and JavaScript
  • Strong working knowledge of React.js and Node.js
  • Strong working knowledge of REST APIs
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Good working knowledge of web applications, databases, UI design, UX design, and software development lifecycle in general
  • Knowledge of project management principles applied in software development is a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant web development and programming skills is a plus
    • e.g. Angular2, PHP, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, C/C++, Perl, Python, jQuery, Bootstrap, Linux, Spring Framework, Servlets, and Tomcat
  • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a plus
  • Knowledge of networking is a plus
    • e.g. TCP/IP

  • Previous co-op or similar work experience highly recommended
  • Previous projects in web development highly recommended
  • Previous projects in process automation highly recommended
