Position Overview:

TELUS has an opportunity for a qualified and seasoned IT professional join our Core Enterprise Architecture team as an Enterprise Architect based in either in Burnaby, BC, or Scarborough, ON.

The Enterprise Architect will bring experience to the shared Enterprise Architecture (EA) core application & data team role as the "conscience" of IT: providing guidance to our most critical strategic transformation projects, defining and supporting our Enterprise Architecture practice, supporting our IT governance activities, and bringing knowledge of emerging technology and trends into our architecture and IT practice. As a member of that team, the Enterprise Architect has significant industry and IT experience in general and Salesforce Platform in particular, with which to guide, lead, and mentor other team members.

    •Work with business and IT stakeholders to define Salesforce strategy for TELUS (Org strategy, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud and and create strategic roadmap, with the goals of increasing the value, cost-effectiveness, reliability, security, and agility of TELUS IT applications •Partner with other architects, business and technical teams, vendors, and partners, to understand business needs and translate them into capability and platform roadmaps, and work toward realizing the roadmaps •Work with stakeholders and portfolio and solution architects to identify reasonable migration paths from the current state to target architectures; communicate and obtain stakeholder buy-in to execute on architectural direction •Work closely with various teams (Business, Development, Infrastructure, PMO, etc.) to define and implement elegant, scalable and sustainable technical solutions using the Salesforce technologies, with a focus on adhering to industry standards, best practices and code quality techniques •Responsible for Proof-of-Concepts involving Salesforce technologies •Responsible for providing guidance to solution architects for the design of Salesforce-based solutions •Guide and review architecture solutions, roadmaps, integration services, frameworks, standards, and models developed and maintained by others •Collaborate to define program-level solution architectures for the most critical transformational programs •Review and approve solution architectures and strategy impacts for other designated projects, ensuring that they are consistent with the architecture strategy, frameworks, and standards •Establish criteria for vendor product evaluation and work with vendors and business units where applicable in evaluating technology solutions •Liaise with industry standards bodies and other collaboration partner companies to evolve application, data, and infrastructure standards and best practices at TELUS •As one of the most senior IT professionals in the organization, actively engage in process improvement, learning activities, and mentoring and coaching for other architects and IT team members •As a member of the EA team, take an active role in assisting architecture leadership with increasing team member engagement, knowledge, and career opportunities


Required Knowledge:
    •Solid knowledge of Enterprise Architecture concepts, techniques, and discipline •Solid architecture experience across various Salesforce clouds (Sales, Marketing, Service and Platform clouds etc.) as well as development and implementation experience on the Salesforce platform (Apex, VisualForce, etc.) •Solid experience integrating Salesforce with 3rd party systems using web services and app exchange apps •Knowledge of typical architecture deliverables and activities, including creation of roadmaps, position papers, strategic proposals, standards, and models •Business knowledge of one or more business domains (Sales, Marketing, Order Entry, Fulfillment, Assurance, Billing, Finance, Planning and Engineering, Logistics) •Exposure to industry enterprise architecture frameworks, including TOGAF, ITIL, Zachman, Archimate; knowledge of telecom based frameworks like TAM, SID, and eTOM is a plus •Broad knowledge of an array of programming languages, database technologies (particularly Oracle and MS SQL Server), SOA integration technologies (web services, WSDL, SOAP, REST), infrastructure tools (integration infrastructure, MDM, BI & reporting, data replication, application server infrastructure, and ETL), and operating systems •Basic knowledge of waterfall and agile software development lifecycle methodologies and general familiarity with IT development, support, operations, and governance processes and approaches •Basic knowledge of one or more IT management toolsets (e.g. CMDB platforms, project and portfolio management suites) and one or more architecture modelling tools (SAP PowerDesigner, Archi, MEGA, Sparx EA) is very helpful •Familiarity with specific telecommunications OSS, BSS, and enterprise support systems is a plus •Extensive experience and comfort with documentation, presentation, and collaboration tools (MS Office and PowerPoint in particular; MS SharePoint a plus.)

      •Strong self-management, initiative, and skill in leading without direct authority •Strong interpersonal, mentoring and coaching skills •Strong meeting facilitation, negotiation, and coordination skills •Some project management experience is a distinct advantage •Very strong spoken and written communications skills, with direct experience writing documentation for and presenting to executive level stakeholders and distilling complex concepts into simple messages

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Certified SFDC Architect, Advanced Developer and/or Developer strongly preferred •A University degree in a related field or the equivalent experience demonstrated by progressive responsibilities

Required Experience:
    •Minimum of 5 years as an IT architect in a large/complex organization or solutions provider •Minimum of 3 years as an enterprise architect •Experience in the telecommunications industry is preferred
