Position Overview:

The Senior Customer Systems Engineering Specialist (CSES - Wireless) is a pre-sales role focused on the development and sale of the wireless solutions that TELUS offers to its customers (mobile wireless data, wireless application development, wireless/wireline integration, fixed wireless, etc.). The CSES-Wireless is the technical sales support function responsible for working with the front line sales executives and CSES teams to conceptualize, qualify, position, and close complex wireless solutions.

The role requires a combination of business/sales ability and technical skills. The successful individual must be able to deal with high-level customer engagements yet liaise in a very detailed manner with TELUS internal engineering resources.

Specific activities include:
    •Working to support the account manager, the account-facing CSES, and sales specialist to qualify and close wireless sales opportunities
    •Understanding and communicating the functionality and benefits of all the services offered within the wireless portfolio
    •Analyzing TELUS wireless products and services against those offered by the competition
    •Overseeing engineering and technical integrity of wireless solutions provided to customers
    •Working with the account-facing CSES to ensure that a particular wireless solution fits within the customer's overall IT environment and strategy
    •Communicating complex technical wireless solutions to non-technical client base
    •Communicating technical solutions to internal provisioning teams for implementation
    •Developing and maintaining knowledge of complex wireless application market developments and industry trends
    •Developing enabling relationships with the internal wireless resources, with specific focus on the technical operations and marketing organizations
    •Promoting TELUS through membership and participation in community and professional associations
    •Conducting presentations to internal and customer audiences

Responsibilities:
    •Engage with account-aligned CSES and corporate account managers to conduct joint technical planning for key accounts
    •Build internal product and technology relationships at the appropriate levels to ensure strong alignment between sales and marketing plans
    •Provide support for both standalone wireless solutions and for multi-technology integrated solutions that feature wireless components
    •Provide the CSES community with technical training sessions on wireless fundamentals
    •Distribute relevant information regarding d developments within the wireless marketplace to the rest of the CSES community
    •Provide directional feedback to marketing with regard to future wireless solution offerings
    •Maintain relationships with vendors within the wireless integration and application solutions market
    •Participate in training activities that either align to the current or future wireless service offerings or that provide increased business and soft skills capabilities


Qualifications:


Required Knowledge:

In addition to technical skills a fully qualified CSES-Wireless must demonstrate the use of management skills (e.g. communications, coaching, sales process, etc.) that are essential to a front line sales organization. The combination of technology skills and customer facing competencies result in individuals who are capable of complex solution development and consulting.

The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of the following areas with in-depth technical knowledge in two or more categories:
    •Wireless fundamentals (including wireless data protocols such as LTE, HSPA, EVDO etc)
    •GSM wireless fundamentals (including wireless data protocols such as GPRS, EDGE and UMTS)
    •Fixed wireless solutions (802.11x, WIFI, PAN, Zigbee, etc)
    •Wireless application development
    •Wireless/Wireline integration

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Ability to discuss customer solution benefits with financial acumen skills
    •Decision making skills to determine the most appropriate solutions
    •Demonstrated competency to develop competitive value-add solutions through creativity and innovation
    •Ability to translate and communicate business opportunities into technical requirements

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in computer science / engineering / management information systems or equivalent
    •One or more industry recognized certifications (e.g. CCDP, MCSE, CCSP, CCISP, ITIL, etc.) is an asset
    •Formal business training is an asset
    •Sales/account planning training is a definite asset

Required Experience:
    •5+ years of related work experience in Telecommunications, wireless and/or IT industry
    •3+ years in a wireless services related role
