•Delivering psychiatric nursing care services to tertiary and/or older adult patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems •Coordinating and providing person-centered and recovery oriented care •Working collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team •Demonstrating nursing expertise and clinical leadership •Developing and implementing psycho-social rehabilitative plans •Facilitating individual and group treatment •Advocating to protect and promote the clients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity and access to information •Participating in quality improvement activities and research Your background includes:
•Graduation from an approved School of Nursing •One (1) year recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary or community setting •Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) •May require completion of substance use certificate program •May require Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
This role is a relief full-time position located at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) in New Westminster, BC. RCH is a provincial referral hospital (tertiary/trauma care centre) with 422 acute beds that is a University of BC Affiliated teaching hospital. RCH is located ½ hour from downtown Vancouver, and close to rapid transit, shopping, restaurants and other amenities.
Royal Columbian Hospital is currently undergoing a massive revitalization to meet the future regional and provincial health care needs of British Columbians. RCH is home to our new Mental Health and Substance Use Wellness Centre with 75 beds, a Psychiatric High Acuity Unit, 12 outpatient clinics and Fraser Health's first Older Adult Psychiatric Unit.
