We have an employment opportunity in People Department for a Return to Work Coordinator. This position reports to the Team Leader and coordinates and facilitates return to work plans, interacting with store management, union representatives, team members, insurers and rehabilitation professionals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and facilitates return to work plans with store management, insurer’s, union representatives, team members and rehabilitation professionals.

  • Communication with Team Members, stores, and physicians.

  • Monitors return to work programs to ensure successful reintegration into the workplace.

  • Working with our Health and Safety Team to resolve identified workplace injury trends and concerns.
  • Communicating and implementing light duties and return to work plans with WCB, insurance carriers, and medical professionals.
  • Regularly reviews claim files and reports to monitor return to work progression.

  • Mediates solutions to complicated Return to Work plans.

  • Verifies accuracy of claims and resolves discrepancies.

  • Assesses disability claims and develops reintegration plans.

  • Responds to claimant enquiries and follows through on queries/issues.

  • Liaises with Health and Safety when retraining is identified during the return to work process.

  • Communicates with Store management and team member’s job modifications, policies or procedures

  • Conducts worksite visits with WCB and medical professionals at store locations.

  • Project work as required.



  • Previous experience in disability claims management.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources with a focus on labour, employment, and disability management is also desirable.
  • Knowledge of employment/labour legislation, and the BC and Alberta Human Rights Codes.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of PC applications, including MS Word/Excel/Outlook/PeopleSoft.
  • Conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • High degree of discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated tact, patience, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
