Business Analyst

Reporting to the manager of Technical Solutions, the Business Analyst works closely with the business and technical teams and is a major contributor to the requirements specification deliverable, and writes the business and functional requirements. This person understands business and ensures that there is integration between business and technology.

Supports functionality gas analysis, scopes project deliverables, and works with the project management team to prioritize deliverables and timelines for the delivery. The BA understands development processes - SDLC - and is very analytical with problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues. The primary role of a BA is to be the liaison between the customers, developers, consultants, and project managers.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US.

What your impact will be:
  • Participate in onsite/remote requirements gathering meetings and Business Process Review sessions
  • Document business requirements gathered from business users
  • Analyze the requirements to clarify the business needs
  • Prepare detailed specifications to definereports/interfaces/dashboardsbased on requirements gathered
  • Assist in walkthroughs with key stakeholders to validate specifications
  • Assist with quality and user acceptance testing process
  • Provide timely/accurate status for the deliverables to project stakeholders
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Liaises with stakeholders to understand workflows, requirements, and operations and ensure the solution designed will fit the needs.


What we are looking for:
  • An undergraduate degree or a business diploma
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written including the ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) is required
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle
  • Some traveling may be required
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and produce high-quality results in a constantly changing and developing environment
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to achieve stated outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet stated timelines


What would make you stand out:
  • 3+ years experience as a BA is an asset
  • Experience in SQL development and creation of reports, and dashboards is an asset
  • A background in the Utilities industry with the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of achievement is an asset
