RELIEF PEST CONTROL TECHNICIAN

This position is only needed to cover absences and would be responsible for identifying and eliminating various pest problems at all District sites. This position is under the supervision of the Manger of Operations. Work assignments are carried out with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspecting buildings and outside areas at regular intervals.
• Preparing and spraying product on infested areas using mechanical or electric sprayer.
• Setting traps and placing product in burrows.
• Inspecting premises to identify infestation source, extent of damage and access to infected location.
• Studying preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevention of recurrence.
• Assumes responsibility for the chemical/pesticides used.
• Applies pesticides only in accordance with label instructions and guidelines established by the government regulatory agencies.
• Completes a daily report of work.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent plus a valid provincial pesticide applicator license.
• Knowledge of District sites and facilities.
• Two (2) years’ experience working as a pest control technician.
• Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, regulations, standards and materials applicable to the trade.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing, pulling and working in a variety of work locations and conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and discretion in dealings with Administrators and District Staff.
• Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with minimal supervision. 
  • Valid class 5 BC Driver's license.
