West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Williams Lake Plywood is currently recruiting for a 4-month or 8 - month Reliability Internship.

Reporting to the Reliability Coordinator, this will be an excellent opportunity to work in an industrial setting and learn about the Plywood making process. You will directly report to Reliability Coordinator with support from Maintenance Superintendent, Mill Manager, and the rest of the management team.

You'll Do:
  • Perform data collection and analysis on mill operational review data and prepare meaningful summary reports and excel dashboards.
  • Perform data collection and analysis of CMMS data and prepare mill wide and area specific dashboard in excel.
  • Assist the Reliability team in the optimization of Asset Management and Reliability documents.
  • Assist the Reliability team in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system.
  • Assist in improving inventory management system.
  • Aid in development of lubrication program
  • Assist in developing Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist in optimizing current PM schedules.
  • Administrative coordination and planning duties
  • Aid in creation and implementation of housekeeping improvement initiative

You have:
  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary school in a Wood Sciences, or Engineering program.
  • Available for a minimum of 4 months starting in September 2024
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work with CMMS (e.g., Dynastar, Maximo)
  • Positive and self-motivated
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment to facilitate and resolve issues.
  • Experience with job planning, reliability and inventory management as an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Embody the West Fraser traits of integrity, humility, teamwork, frugality, innovation, competitiveness, and respect.
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to work alone with minimum guidance.
  • Safety first attitude, previous health and safety training would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the forest industry is not necessary but would be considered a definite advantage.

Williams Lake Plywood, a division of West Fraser, is located in Williams Lake BC, two- and half-hour drive from Prince George. It produces 4ft X 8ft Fir and Spruce plywood in 4 thicknesses: 9.5mm, 12.5mm, 15.5mm and 18.5mm.
