Work Arrangements
The Sport Science ( SPSC ) Department in the Faculty of Science & Technology at Douglas College is seeking probationary regular instructors for the 2021-2022 academic year. The positions are full-time with teaching assignments scheduled for Fall 2021 and Winter 2022.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
The Sport Science Department currently offers a 2-year Sport Science Diploma (with specializations in Health and Recreation or Kinesiology), a 4-year Bachelor of Physical Education & Coaching Degree (with concentrations in Health Promotion or Kinesiology), and a 2-year Graduate Diploma in Physical and Health Education.

The Sport Science Department is recognized within Douglas College as a program-innovation leader and within British Columbia for its applied and experiential approaches to learning. Our graduates are prepared for immediate work or further study in physical education and kinesiology-related professions.


As a faculty member in the SPSC department you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction. You will also be expected to attend meetings, participate in faculty and college-wide committees and engage in ongoing professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
- PhD in an applicable field preferred (minimum Master's required)
- Teaching experience at the college or university level including curriculum development and implementation
- Field experience in physical education, kinesiology, or sport and coaching
- Research or sport consulting experience

Applicants will be considered based on their expertise and experience in available subject areas and their post-secondary qualifications. Successful applicants should be dedicated to teaching and demonstrate a broad knowledge of physical education and kinesiology related subject areas, underpinned by an understanding of learning as it applies to undergraduate education.

- Exercise physiology
- Health and physical activity
- Nutrition
- Physical growth and development
- Motor learning
- Biomechanics
- Sociology of sport
- Physical and health education pedagogy
