The Role
The Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Psychiatric Nursing invites applications for regular probationary faculty to instruct in the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing Program ( BSPN ). In alignment with demonstrated faculty expertise instruction will include a combination of clinical practice (psychiatric, medical, surgical settings), theory, communication and/or experiential/ psychomotor skills laboratory courses for all levels of the BSPN program.


Successful faculty candidates will provide education and instruction for students that facilitates learning and evaluates student progress in College courses. Faculty plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and provide and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
    •Current RPN //RN registration with BCCNM . RPN registration preferred for faculty teaching psychiatry. •Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing/Nursing or related discipline required for regular faculty positions. Enrolment in a Master's program with substantial completion will be considered. PhD preferred. •Three to five years of teaching experience in nursing practice (clinical), classroom/seminar, and/or laboratory settings in a nursing program or equivalent preferred. •Demonstrated understanding of current educational pedagogy and methods in providing education to adult learners across the age spans. •Experience with online learning preferred. •Demonstrated expertise and/or competence in one or more courses currently offered in BSPN program. •Experience in curriculum development and evaluation an asset. •Effective interpersonal skills with a strong understanding of therapeutic communication. •The applicant should have an understanding of cultural safety and how this approach considers social and historical contexts, as well as structural and interpersonal power imbalances that shape health and health care experiences. •Self-directedness and strong work ethic. •Ability to work well with others and contribute effectively to team activities. •Evidence of scholarship (e.g. research, publishing, conference presentations, professional committee involvement, and community service). •Evidence of ongoing professional development (e.g. attendance at conferences, course work, in-services). •Demonstrated initiative and creativity in practice.
