Work Arrangements
The PEFA Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking a probationary, regular, half-time faculty member to deliver four sections of existing Film Studies courses: PEFA 1116 (Introduction to Film Studies) and PEFA 1216 (Canadian Film Studies).

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
Regular Probationary Faculty - Film Studies Instructor

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
    •teach Film Studies at a foundational level, adapting instruction to open-enrollment students who may or may not have prior experience; •plan, organize, and manage learner-centred instruction and activities; •assess and evaluate students' progress and achievement; •participate in curriculum revision and maintain currency of PEFA Film Studies courses; •participate in curriculum development for new courses such as Documentary Film Studies; •attend meetings, share in departmental responsibilities, and participate in •committee work; and •maintain currency in the field through professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
    •a Master's Degree or PhD in Film Studies or related field; •evidence of recent film-making activity to demonstrate an understanding of practical motion picture production methods; •a record of successful teaching of Film Studies at the post-secondary level; •a demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners, including English Language Learners and students with learning differences; •effective communication and interpersonal skills; •initiative, creativity, and self-directedness; and •a strong commitment to Department and College service.
