Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team!
Under clinical supervision of the Team Lead/designate, provides ongoing intensive outreach nursing care, case management and mental health and substance use support services for assigned clients, whether they are in hospital, residential or other community settings. Designs, implements, and monitors individual treatment plans to maximize community functioning and reduce re-hospitalization. Works in close association with inter-professional community mental health and substance use staff, emergency services, Indigenous partners, and community service providers.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 08:17 to 19:30, Rotating
Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town's Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College. Check out Smithers where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in mental health and substance use programming or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate / prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Ability to create culturally safe, trauma informed health care settings through individualized care planning and collaborative approaches to service provisions, including Indigenous health services if possible.
• Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
• Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates bet practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts, and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
