Job Description
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital.
Reports to Director of Care and is guided by the Visions and Values of Northern Health, BCCNM Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics. Identifies, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social and psychological needs in accordance with established NH and BVDH policies and procedures. Practices as a member of the nursing team.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)
A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) are starting in B.C.! Northern Health, along side other health authorities, is implementing mNPR as a transformative staffing solution that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.
Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Minimum one (1) years medical/surgical experience and/or equivalent combination of experience and training is preferred.
• Current CPR (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification or willingness to complete within 1 year is preferred.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to manage all equipment appropriate for the provision of care for patients admitted to the acute care unit.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Maintain own physical, mental and emotional well being.
• Uses Critical Thinking skills, prioritizes and organizes patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to assist in orientation of new personnel.
• Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts; including coworkers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients and families.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
