Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Head Nurse is responsible for the quality of care provided and oversees the work of all the Unit/Program staff. The Head Nurse provides leadership in the development of clinical practice by teaching, consulting and demonstrating specialized nursing skills in accordance with the philosophy, objective and policies of the nursing department.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 07:00 to 15:00
Ksyen Regional Hospital
The new Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients on November 24, 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, the facility features 82 beds, private rooms, and is a centre for trauma services, orthopedic surgeries, pathology, radiology, clinical support, and pharmacy services. The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program.
Terrace The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. There are nine elementary schools, four secondary schools, and Northwest Community College and a UNBC campus. Check out Terrace where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Five years' experience in a clinical setting where relevant nursing skills and theoretical knowledge have been applied and teaching and management principles have been utilized, including a minimum of two (2) years' experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Willingness to become certified to support Oncology with BCCA.
Skills and Abilities:
• A competent clinical understanding of the applicable nursing unit to ensure development and monitoring of effective policies, procedures and clinical skills.
• Organization, planning leadership and human resource management skills to plan, direct, and manage nursing services on the nursing unit.
• Communication skills, both oral and written, to maintain optimum working relationships with all hospital staff, outside agencies and the public.
• Budgeting and financial administration skills to ensure that services are provided within operating budget allocations.
• Ability to act as a role model in creating a collaborative harmonious atmosphere.
• Ability to work and make decisions under pressure.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to work as RN in Oncology, ICU & ER when necessary.
