Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the University Hospital of Northern BC.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.
The Registered Nurse - Emergency, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening, to patients in the Emergency department. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
• Completion of a recognized Emergency Nursing specialty program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Skills and Abilities:
• Current cardiac monitoring skills.
• Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Ability to initiate intravenous therapy and maintain IV lines.
• Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and the members of the interprofessional team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Ability to promote person-focused care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/care givers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, patient advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Ability to transmit information intended to instruct patients, families/care givers and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
