Build on your career experience by:
    •Coordinating the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients treated/admitted to the Pediatric Emergency Department •Demonstrating nursing expertise and providing clinical leadership in evidence based practices through direct care activities •Evaluating the immediate and psychiatric nursing care needs of assigned patients •Providing individual supportive counseling to patients and families in accordance with approved treatment plans and consults with physicians regarding medication needs •Facilitating group treatment with other clinical specialties •Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and other health care professionals/providers in the identification and resolution of a variety of patient/family issues •Setting priorities, guiding and delegating tasks to support staff •Instructing patients, their families and/or care-givers with respect to illness prevention, health maintenance and health promotion strategies to help patients accomplish their health care goals •Participating in continuous quality improvement, program development and risk management activities
Your background includes:
    •Graduation from an approved school of Nursing •Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) •One (1) year's recent, related experience in an acute psychiatric setting, including experience working with an adolescent population, specialty training in adolescent psychiatry

This role is a casual position located at Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) in Surrey, BC. SMH is a 611 acute care bed, University of B.C. affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in B.C.
