Reporting to the Director of Care, the Acute Care Float Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with Bulkley Valley District Hospital Policies and accepted standards.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 08:30 to 16:30, 16:30 to 23:30, rotating
New Wage: As of April 1, 2023 the new wage is: $40.21 - $57.78/hour
Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 19-bed acute care hospital which integrates home and community care into one facility. Services include emergency/outpatient, medical/surgical, maternity, palliative care, laboratory, radiology, pediatrics, home & community care and community cancer clinic. The medical staff in Smithers consists of family physicians, anesthetists, a pediatrician, visiting surgeons and other specialists.
Smithers has a population of 5,401 (2021) local residents and is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges that provide a backdrop for the towns' Alpine setting. Check out Smithers where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications•Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
•Current Level C CPR certification.
•ACLS and TNCC Certification preferred.
•At least two (2) years recent related emergency nursing experience preferred.
•At least two (2) years recent related maternity nursing experience preferred.
•At least five (5) years recent related acute care nursing experience.
