LivaNova's Cardiac Surgery Business Unit, located in Burnaby, BC, has an opening for a Quality Control Inspector.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our dynamic team in an organization of innovation, growth and change. This position requires dedicated individuals with excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail in order to perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspection of manufacturing materials, components and finished medical devices in accordance with good manufacturing practices and established standard operation procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform visual, dimensional and mechanical inspections as required.
  • Use proper inspection techniques.
  • Operate equipment following written procedures.
  • Verify and document, if applicable, that all materials are acceptable prior to use.
  • Perform data collection and entry into storage medium (e.g. BPCS).Maintain traceability and proper documentation and identification on all products processed through the area.
  • Maintain accurate records in the time data collection systems
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the inspection area
  • Ensure that inspection equipment has been calibrated prior to use and properly secured upon completion
  • Adhere to all safety procedures & regulations; report any unsafe conditions as required
  • Handle chemicals according to training and procedures
  • Report problems and potential problems to designee or supervisor
  • Further Requirements:High school education or equivalent required
  • Post Secondary Courses in Quality Control, Quality Assurance or Engineering field preferred1-2 years of experience in Quality Control field dexterity or minimum of 1 year of (medical device) manufacturing experience
  • Understands basic arithmetic, decimals and fractions, basic geometric dimensioning and tolerance principles
  • Good manual dexterity, legible handwriting and organized work habits
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with extreme detail, accuracy and speed
  • Ability to do repetitive work within guidelines and maintain precise records/ electronic entries
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, rules and written procedures
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with limited supervision
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent use of safety equipment (i.e. goggles and respirators)
  • Usage and handling of (caustic) chemicals, which could be harmful if proper safety precautions are not followed
  • May require rotating day shift and afternoon shift and work overtime hours on short notice
  • Some lifting and carrying
