Our work is in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services including prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. BC Cancer operates regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George in addition to two research centres.

Psychiatrist

Various full-time and part-time opportunities available at the following locations:

Abbotsford: up to 2 days per week

Kelowna: up to 4 days per week

Prince George: up to 2 days per week

Surrey: up to 2.5 days per week

Vancouver: up to 5 days per week

BC Cancer is searching for excellent outpatient consult-liaison psychiatrists.

There is opportunity to be involved in clinical teaching and BC Cancer psychiatrists are expected to hold or obtain a clinical or academic faculty appointment at UBC. The clinic is well-supported by reception and secretarial staff and BC Cancer counselors provide social work support and group therapy in addition to individual counseling to patients and family members. BC Cancer psychiatrists work collaboratively with oncologists, Pain and Symptom Management physicians, GP-oncologists, dietitians, physiotherapists, counselors, spiritual care practitioners, vocational counselors, art and music therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other team members.

There is opportunity to initiate or join therapy groups or group medical visits for cancer patients.

This position suits psychiatrists who are interested in both psychotherapy and medication management. Past experience or training in psycho-oncology and interest in research or quality improvement are assets, but are not required.

Interested physicians should be eligible for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC. Having fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, is desirable.
