Project Controls / Scheduler Position:  Harvey 2325

We are an established, growing Heavy Industrial General Contractor with operations throughout Canada, and we self-perform our work as a Building Trades employer.

We are currently seeking to hire a Project Controls / Scheduler, in this position you will assist the Project Manager/s and Superintendent/s, where applicable, in the development of overall detailed project construction schedules.

As an integral member of our team, you will help to plan, organize and direct the activities of various construction projects under the direction of the Project Manager/s.

MAIN FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪ Assist the Project Team in the development of overall detailed project schedules

▪ Assist with preparation of overall project detailed work plans

▪ Assist Project Team in planning workflow and phasing as required

▪ Work closely under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager/s and Superintendent/s to learn our systems and methods

▪ Act as liaison with subcontractors and suppliers to establish timely deliveries of equipment and materials

▪ Work closely with procurement to ensure understanding of the key equipment and material delivery dates

▪ Key responsibility is to monitor progress associated for each construction activity and provide schedule analysis

▪ Information will be obtained through site observations, input from construction team leads and from subcontractors

▪ Review and assess contractor schedules, including alignment and roll-up to project schedule

▪ Progress reports shall be generated for both the office construction management team and the site management team as required

▪ Perform Progress/Schedule Updates - visit and walk project to gather update/actual information. Interface with the Superintendent/s and project team with regard to schedule actuals and projections

▪ Current status versus baseline reporting, report variances to the baseline schedule

▪ Preparation of schedule driven cash flow analysis as required

▪ Compile milestone tracking reports to provide early indicators of the project’s ability to meet specific goals

▪ Work closely with cost control to ensure alignment of project analysis and reporting as it relates to project controls processes and procedures

▪ Work in conjunction with the construction team management and subcontractors, as required, develop work around solutions to field problems encountered

▪ Assume full responsibility for project schedules

▪ Attend project coordination and Owner/Contractor/Engineer meetings as requested, or required

▪ Provide expertise to site team to avoid/resolve potential problems

▪ Provide scheduling training to the personnel as required

▪ Attend and contribute to site and project technical meetings as necessary

▪ Monitor field work, including contract work, to ensure compliance with project schedules

▪ Participate in the continuous updating and accurate generation of project schedules

▪ Provide as-built schedule information for use in the project completion reports

▪ Maintain project awareness in order to keep Project Manager/s and others informed about the project status and potential issues

▪ May perform other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

▪ 5 to 6 year’s of recent, related work experience as a Project Scheduler in Industrial Construction

▪ Completion of post-secondary education with a related diploma, degree or trade certificates

▪ Knowledgeable in reading various disciplines of construction drawings, such as: P&ID's, Single Line Diagrams, Orthographic and Isometric drawings, Civil and Structural drawings, etc…

▪ Ability to read and interpret contract specifications and other construction documents

▪ A working knowledge of various industrial construction techniques, practices and trade sequencing

▪ Experience with large, multi-discipline Industrial Construction projects

▪ Familiarity with critical path method scheduling concepts including float analysis, leading indicators, schedule variance analysis, resource loading, WBS development, percent complete analysis

▪ Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, and be able to effectively prioritize work load, multi-task, organize and work both independently and as a Team player to achieve goals in a high-pressure environment

▪ Must be, adept at problem solving, and dedicated to achieving goals

▪ Must work well under pressure, and must always meet deadlines as project demands increase

▪ Must be proficient in PC scheduling software, including MS Project and Primavera-P6

▪ Must be proficient in common PC software, including experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc...)

▪ Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form

▪ Excellent interpersonal skills, are a requirement

▪ Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract

▪ Must be able, to travel and work out of town for short duration assignments, as required

▪ Read, write and speak fluent English

 

This is a fulltime position

Salary is open depending on experience
