Program Coordinator Recreation Access Services Program (Permanent Part Time)

The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an immediate opening for a permanent part-time Recreation Program Coordinator with a portfolio focus on access to recreation services.
Reporting to the Community Services and Community Development Manager, this position will be responsible for promoting and facilitating recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities as well as individuals facing barriers such as financial, language, cultural or mobility. This will involve: organizing, training and supervising volunteers or staff who assist individuals in participating in recreation programs, and administering the Recreation Financial Assistance Program. The position is expected to address the recreational needs of individuals as well as assist with the planning, development, marketing and evaluation of specialized programs and services. This position is also responsible for initiating and implementing policies, procedures and staff training in the area of access services, including evaluating and processing financial assistance for recreation programs.
The preferred candidate has considerable knowledge of the recreational needs of persons within specialized populations, including an understanding of the resources and services provided by community service groups and government agencies. The candidate understands the importance of 'building community' through recreation programs, partnership facilitation with many local organizations as well as advocating for opportunities for all residents of the community.
Applicants should possess: a University Degree or Diploma in a related discipline including or supplemented by courses from a health or therapeutic recreation perspective, plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's license is essential.
The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials. The successful candidate is also required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire.

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay: $32.87 per hour - This position has a pay structure with five steps which increases based on hours worked.Closing Date: 11:59 p.m. on May 19, 2022
