Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Processing, the Process Engineer-in-Training, is responsible for developing a strategy for increased throughput, leading improvement initiatives, and optimizing plant performance. The successful candidate will work closely with operators, maintainers and supervisors to optimize circuit performance, analyze process results, and perform process and lab-based tests to prove new and innovative technological improvements and system changes. This position follows a rotation of 4 day shifts on and 4 days off.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Be a team player with the common goal of safe production through plant reliability, process reliability and efficiency, and safety by design
  • Work with the engineering team to develop a five-year strategic plan to optimize plant performance through automation and technology
  • Act as a technical lead for projects in the processing plant
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and quantity of all production, identifying opportunities for improvements
  • Implement improvement opportunities with urgency, following change management practices
  • Monitor performance of individual circuits and systems, and recommending or implementing efficiencies
  • Balance multiple objectives and communicate status updates across site teams
  • Work with operations to ensure best practices are being followed through daily interaction

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Mineral Processing, or other related discipline
  • Working knowledge of process analysis methodology
  • Experience in coal processing and Registered or eligible for registration with APEGBC is considered an asset

Benefits:

Salary Range: $101,000 - $125,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
