Work Arrangements
The English Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to hire one probationary regular instructor and expand its list of contract instructors qualified to teach ( QTT ) courses in academic writing and literature.

There is one full-time probationary regular instructor position available, starting on January 3, 2024. The teaching rotation for this position is Winter 2024 (4 courses) and Summer 2024 (4 courses) with a non-teaching semester in Fall 2024.

There are contract sections available for Winter 2024.

Please, note that this is not an EAP or ESL teaching position.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
The English Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to hire one probationary regular instructor and expand its list of contract instructors qualified to teach ( QTT ) courses in academic writing and literature.

Responsibilities

As an instructor in the English Department, you will

- develop course outlines following curriculum guidelines,
- select appropriate textbooks and create teaching materials,
- deliver high-quality learner-centred instruction,
- design assignments and assessment criteria,
- evaluate student progress,
- hold regular office hours, and
- maintain currency in the field through regular professional development.

In addition, as a probationary regular instructor, you will

- participate in curriculum revisions and development,
- attend departmental and Faculty-wide meetings, and
- participate in department and Faculty-wide committees.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
The successful candidates will have:

- A minimum of a Master's degree in English Literature or equivalent (Ph.D. preferred)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching post-secondary credit courses, preferably in both academic writing and literature
- The ability to work collaboratively with others, excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative, self-directedness, and
- evidence of ongoing professional development.

Evidence of experience with content and pedagogical approaches in Indigenous Studies would be an asset.
Evidence of experience with content and pedagogical approaches in Gender, Sexualities, and Women's Studies would also be an asset.
