Job Summary
The Team
Join the newly established Surgical Strategy and Innovation Team within the Access and Wait Times Branch at the Ministry of Health. Our close-knit team of six, including a Director and five Policy Analysts, is dedicated to improving equitable access to surgery across the province. In this role, you'll collaborate with colleagues across the Ministry of Health, Health Authority surgical leaders, physicians, and key partners like Doctors of BC, to shape the future of surgical services for communities across the province. We value flexibility, collaboration, and a commitment to learning as we work together to ensure timely access to surgery for patients, regardless of where they live.
The Role
In this role, you will lead the development of strategic and innovative provincial strategies to stabilize and enhance surgical services, ensuring patients have improved access to timely care. By focusing on initiatives such as improving the surgical patient journey or strengthening the surgical workforce, you'll play a key part in shaping the future of healthcare delivery. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with passionate health leaders and partners across the province, driving meaningful change that directly impacts the lives of patients in diverse communities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master's Degree (may be preferred) in public administration, business administration, health administration, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field; and, a minimum of 2 years progressive and recent, related experience. OR,
- Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business administration, health administration, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field; and, a minimum of 3 years progressive and recent, related experience. OR,
- Diploma in public administration, business administration, health administration, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field; and, a minimum of 4 years progressive and recent, related experience. OR,
- No degree/diploma and a minimum of 5 years progressive and recent, related experience.
*Recent (within last 5 years) related experience must include:
- Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and policy.
- Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
Preference my be given to applicants with:
- With experience obtained while working in the B.C. health sector and/or in healthcare service access and delivery.
- With formal project or change management experience.
- With more years of experience.
