Greater Victoria School District 61

 

Plumber

Temporary Position starting October 1st for 6 months

(Subject to Internal Staffing Process)

 

The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities.  To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, administrators, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

 

The Greater Victoria School District is currently seeking applications for a Plumber with the following qualifications:

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Must possess a Certificate of Apprenticeship in plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BC or a Certificate of Trade Qualification in Plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BC
  • Must possess a Certificate of Qualification to perform the duties of a Class B Gas Fitter as issued by Technical Safety BC. A Class A Gas ticket would be an asset.
  • Must possess a valid BC driver’s license
  • Completion of four or more years specific experience in similar duties as required
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties as noted in the job description
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of partners in a leadership role. Partners could include principals, teachers, students, parents, office staff and facilities staff, etc.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the public
  • Certification in backflow prevention devices would be an asset

 

This continuing position falls within the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $37.90 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package upon successful completion of probation. Shift times would be 6:30am -3:00pm.
