We are currently recruiting an intermediate level PLC Programmer to join our Controls Group.  You will be primarily responsible for hardware planning and ordering, and software programming associated with the design development, fabrication, modification and operation of PLC based control systems. Your other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • The maintenance and troubleshooting of Schneider PLCs using Concept or Unity
  • Detailed software development of PLCs, and the creation of EPICS databases and displays
  • The evaluation, implementation and testing of machine protection interlocks
  • Providing technical advice on the wiring of PLC break-out panels, cabling or other assembly activities
  • Performing and documenting the design, development, maintenance, modification, repair and operation of electronics devices, including preparation of schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, constructing circuitry and testing

You will also be required to successfully complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.

As our ideal candidate, you are able to work as an effective member of a team and interact with diverse and multi-disciplinary individuals. Your other qualifications include:

  • Strong PLC programming knowledge
  • A demonstrated ability in electronic design
  • Basic familiarity with wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly and relevant equipment and tools
  • A technical diploma in a relevant field combined with at least 3 to 5 years experience after graduation, with at least 2 years experience in a PLC programming environment. Equivalent combinations or experience and training are also accepted.

While not required, experience with Siemen’s, Allen Bradley, and Beckhoff equipment and system would be considered an asset to your application.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
