Planning and Materials Manager

Reporting to the Plant Director, the Planning and Materials Manager oversees the production planning and supply chain function at the local manufacturing site.

Job Duties

· Provide the required input into the overall production plan and budget in order to ensure that the reality and capabilities of production are considered for short- and medium-term planning

o Assist and act throughout the Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP)

o Analyze data on machine and manpower capacity, taking action if necessary

o Regularly check, and take action if necessary, to ensure that enough capacity exists to support the production plan, for both machines and human resources

o Lead planning meetings, assuring part scheduling. Follow-up on parts and act to safe-guard monthly sales. Take action accordingly.

o Actively participate in specific recovery meetings

o Respect Manufacturing Order planning and scheduling

· Monitor production performance in order to ensure that objectives are met

o Ensure the achievement of Lead Time and On-Time-Delivery targets

o Monitor monthly KPIs (backlog, WIP, efficiency, …) and define improvement actions with the Production Manager and/or Plant Director

o Check quality indicators and define improvement actions with the Quality Manager

o Check customer complaints and define improvement actions, in conjunction with the Production Manager, Plant Director, and Commercial team

o Assist in the follow-up on maintenance plans/activities

o Monitor the output of critical machines and define corrective actions

· Oversee the supply chain function

o Ensure the achievement of logistics and dispatch requirements

o Ensure on-time delivery from suppliers

o Lead team objectives and projects to improve delivery performance

o Oversee the procurement of materials, parts, assemblies and/or services for the organization

o Oversee the management of non-aero suppliers for the organization

· Manage employees within Department

o Encourage employees to define and implement improvement actions and assist with, or lead, the coordination of these actions

o Ensure the timely presence, number, and quality of human resources required to achieve results, coordinating with HR when necessary

o Encourage teamwork and a positive working environment

o Develop training requirement, in conjunction with HR

o Support and develop employees

· Ensure that planning and supply chain functions coordinate and cooperate with other areas of the company, in order to contribute to optimal overall management

· Coordinate with and assist Managers from other departments in order to ensure that all production capabilities are optimized in terms of process, quality, cost, and delivery time

Education/Experience Requirements

· Degree in Operations Management, Inventory Management, or Production Management (or equivalent, related education or experience)

· At least 5 years of previous, related experience in a manufacturing setting

· Strong analytical abilities, able to evaluate information quickly

· Excellent time management abilities

· Proven ability to manage teams, and to teach, coach, and lead others

· Readiness to exchange ideas and opinions, negotiate, persuade, and discuss issues with others, taking a team-player approach to arrive at decisions/solutions

· Ability to act pro-actively and take immediate action to solve problems

· Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

· Results oriented, with a strong customer awareness

· Has good computer skills (MS Office, ERP software, etc
