The Children's Hospital Emergency Physicians Associates (CHEPA) is a formal democratic group of Pediatric Emergency Physicians that provides clinical service to the Emergency Department of BCCH, and is dedicated to excellence in clinical care, research and education. A fully equipped state-of-the-art simulation center within the hospital and the UBC Centre for Health Educational Scholarship (CHES) present opportunities for growth and development of faculty interested in educational research, while the CFRI supports opportunities for the clinician scholar.

As a pediatric emergency physician you are interested in a clinical and academic career to provide excellence in meeting the acute medical care needs of children and youth. The successful applicant is expected to help provide provincial leadership in pediatric emergency medicine, to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Division of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics, and the Department of Emergency Medicine at UBC, participate in Divisional and Departmental operations initiatives and staff meetings, and to support clinical and health services research of the division. Successful applicants will have an identified non-clinical area of expertise (e.g., quality improvement, education, POCUS, toxicology) that they can bring to the group to further our University, Health Authority, and Provincial mandates. We are seeking highly motivated new members who will be actively engaged in divisional activities beyond clinical shift-work.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility for all of us. The BC Governments' unanimous passage of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act was a significant step forward in this journey-one that all health authorities are expected to support as we work in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to lasting reconciliation. True reconciliation will take time and ongoing commitment to work with Indigenous Peoples as they move toward self-determination. Guiding these efforts Crown agencies must remain focused on creating opportunities that implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Mandate.
