Our client, Encorp Pacific (Canada) , operates a large scale collection and recycling system for used beverage containers throughout the province. The collection network involves 173 independent Return It™ depots, 300+ grocery outlets, 200+ government liquor stores, 30 independent drivers and transportation companies, and 20 processor and end recyclers. Their mandate also includes other end of life product management services including the collection of end of life electronic products, packaging and printed paper material collected through the depots. An experienced payroll professional with exposure to other administrative responsibilities is required to process a medium sized payroll and to ensure accuracy of the corporate brand registry for used beverage containers. www.returnit.ca
Reporting jointly to the Controller and Assistant Controller the individual will have a dual role and be active both in payroll and benefits administration using a 3rd party service provider as well providing administration and support for the brand registry of used beverage containers.
The Payroll duties will include processing all aspects of a 40 employee payroll and all related year end activities including processing of T4; posting journal entries in the General Ledger and responding to employment verification queries. In this role you will also be responsible for new hires intake including orientation for new employees, providing accurate reporting and remittances to benefit providers, tracking time off and other ad-hoc reporting. On the Brand registry administration side, the individual will maintain a database of ready-to-drink beverages containers to ensure it is complete and accurate, assist brand owner with the registration for their products as well and provide regular updates and communication with the brand owners via various channel.
Encorp anticipates approximately 50% of professional time will be spent on payroll and 50% on brand registry.
Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years’ experience in full cycle payroll and be knowledgeable in payroll-related tax information, remittances and payroll source deductions. Ideally they should be enrolled in a recognized accounting program. Other relevant skills include a sharp eye for details, excellent communication and analytical skills, capacity to handle pressure under tight deadlines, and be team player while working with minimal supervision.
