Summary of position:

This position will report to the Divisional Controller and will be responsible for payroll administration and supporting activities. West Fraser believes strongly in promoting from within and we are looking for individuals who are interested in a full-time long-term career. The successful candidate should be interested in future growth opportunities within the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process accurate and timely payroll
  • Maintain payroll & benefits information, documents & forms
  • Calculate & prepare payroll remittance & reconciliations
  • Respond to payroll & benefit related inquiries
  • Manage WCB and short & long-term disability claims
  • Prepare various reports upon request for supervisors and management
  • Prepare ROE’s & information for T4’s
  • Maintain confidential personnel files
  • Ensuring compliance with West Fraser policies and Canadian payroll regulations
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies

  • 3-5 years previous payroll or administration experience
  • Canadian Payroll Association designation is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in payroll administration and general accounting knowledge is preferred
  • Accurate data entry skills and superior attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, requests and meet strict deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (with an emphasis on Excel) and the ability to adapt to new software systems
  • Effective organization and communication skills
  • Experience &/or training in Human Resource would be an asset
