Paralegal or Non Practicing Lawyer – Mediation – #2986-D

 

Our client is a dynamic law firm located in Downtown Vancouver who is looking for a Mediation Paralegal to join their fast-paced environment. They pride themselves on have a fun but challenging work environment that requires someone who is enthusiastic and result-oriented.  

 

The Role:

The successful candidate should have previous experience working as a paralegal in a personal injury firm and customer service experience. The Mediation Paralegal is responsible for written case presentation in preparation for mediation and settlement conferences attended by lawyers and clients. This role also provides administrative and mediation coordinating services.

 

Who you are!

You are an experienced Paralegal or looking to utilize your law degree with exceptional analytical, communication and customer service skills. You have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. The ideal candidate must be reliable and have the ability to work independently and within a team. A strong work ethic and initiative will go far in this environment.

 

Where is it based?

Downtown Vancouver

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing documentation pertaining to cases and ensuring all documents have been served under the rules of court
  • Developing thorough understanding of and providing investigative analysis of cases at hand. Presenting cases in a comprehensive written form.
  • Serving the mediation summary on defence council
  • Preparing and producing documents and correspondence in advance of mediations and/or trial, including case settlements
  • Addressing concerns raised by Case Managers in regards to cases at hand and communicating with clients to clarify
  • Assisting with all administrative aspects of trial and file preparation
  • Maintaining filing systems, including correspondence, reports, records and billings
  • Corresponding with insurance companies and benefit providers to obtain documentation regarding disability and extended health subrogation agreements
  • Communicating with clients, defense, investigators and medical professionals
  • Additional administrative and support duties as assigned

Must haves:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience working in a personal injury firm
  • Certificate or diploma from a recognized paralegal program
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion and tact
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
