Job Summary Bring your strong administrative experience and superior organizational skills to this positionThe Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC's mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMCR works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
EMCR's Financial Management Team provides expertise in financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting, financial policy and procedures development, financial systems support, financing and debt management services, revenue, accounts payable and receivables management.
Job Requirements: - Secondary school graduation or equivalent. Preference may be given to post-secondary training in office administration, business, secretarial or other related courses.
- Experience working in an office setting including the operation of office equipment such as personal computer, fax, photocopier, multi-line phone system.
- Experience/training in standard computer applications - keyboarding, database, Excel spreadsheet, word processing (ex. MSWord, Outlook and Excel)
Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Experience monitoring and tracking financial and/or program information.
- Experience arranging travel.
- Experience drafting correspondence, maintaining filing system and records management.
Candidates must be able and willing to:
- Travel to locations throughout the province.
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations, including operational deployments across the province.
