MDA is looking to hire a part-time (hourly) Naval Electronics Field Services Respresentative on the West Coast (Victoria) to assist with Maintenance and repair of in-service Mine Warfare and Communications equipment.

This would be a great opportunity for anyone retired or looking to retire from the Navy but still wanting to keep busy and hands-on in the technical field.

Primary Activities

Maintenance and repair of Naval Communications equipment, Command and Control Systems, Networks, Route Survey and Remotely Operated Vehicle payloads, and associated acoustic sensors, mechanical, electrical, and computing system components.
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Software/hardware Fault isolation and repair
  • Technical writing
  • Emergency services support
  • Provision of post delivery technical, maintenance and training support to the end customers.
  • Generation of monthly progress reports as necessary
  • Preparation of tasking estimates, costs and descriptions (on a per task basis)
  • Obtaining quotes and preparing purchase orders
  • Generation of tasking reports in compliance with customer requirements
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships
  • May perform other duties as required

Candidate Profile
  • Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Naval Communications, Combat and/or Acoustic Systems and Sub-Systems installation, maintenance and repair experience at a journeyman level.
  • UNIX / Windows operating system familiarity
  • LAN/WAN networking experience, including fiber optics maintenance and repair
  • Software, hardware and electronic systems integration/installation and set to work experience
  • TEMPEST maintenance experience is desirable
  • AUTOCAD or equivalent experience
  • Estimation, Planning and Budget/Schedule sensitivity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, at the same time being part of a larger team
  • Excellent problem solving skills
Comments/Special Considerations:
    • Valid driver's license and vehicle to perform FSR duties.
    • Candidates must be able to obtain a NATO Secret Security Clearance
