JOINERY BENCHMAN/CRAFTSPERSON-Commercial Millwork-Cabinetry

New opportunities are available for qualified Joinery Benchmen/Craftspersons with skills and experience in specialty wood joinery, machining, assembly and veneering.

In the BC secondary wood product manufacturing industry there is a shortage of qualifed bench staff. Wages are going up to meet the expectations of applicants and to address the cost of living increases of the past year or so. We are now running a province wide campaign to attract new applicants that are urgently needed to fill multiple positions in key locations stretching from Coquitlam out into the Fraser Valley. (Additional locations may be added or changed as new positions are added and some past openings get filled.)

These positions are with a number of premium Commercial Millwork/Custom Cabinetry manufacturing operations that need special assistance in locating qualified individuals in a very competitve labour market. These are skilled joiner/craftsperson level positions requiring focused specialty abilities working with solid wood, wood composites and occasionally veneers or laminates. Ideally you have formal training in joinery (preferably through an apprenticeship or post-secondary program) and 5 years of experience using joinery skills in a millwork/custom woodwork operation. Experience with solid wood to make high quality architectural millwork is in particularly high demand.

To be successful in this position you need to be an organized, reliable individual that can read detailed drawings and also operate precision production equipment. On a daily basis you will be working with shop drawings that are accurate, but intricate. To maintain established quality standards you must have an eye for detail and proven math skills to interpret project specifications. To meet production requirements you will need to produce and assemble project components in a efficient, safe and timely manner.
