Mental Health And Substance Use Support Worker

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manger (or designate) & RN/RPN's the Mental Health Support Worker will provide assistance to patients with acute mental illness and substance use disorders. They will provide support as directed by the care plan utilizing psychosocial rehabilitation principles in all care aspects.

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $29.83/hour

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 07:00 to 15:00, 14:45 to 23:00. Rotating

Qualfications
• Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

Skills and Abilities:
• Basic knowledge of Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, psychiatric disorders, medications and side effects, and psychosocial rehabilitation principles
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with patients including conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to operate related equipment/instruments (i.e. lifts, blood pressure monitors, iPad)
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
