Our client, Nexterra Systems Corp. is a global leader in the development and supply of community scale gasification systems that convert non-recyclable organic waste into clean, renewable heat and power. The systems are designed around Nexterra's proven gasification platform that has over 200,000 hours of commercial operation. Nexterra has completed nine commercial projects in North America and the United Kingdom. The company also has two projects under construction in the UK. Nexterra's customers include the MWH Global, the University of British Columbia and Kruger Products.


As a design professional you’ll play a key role with a direct impact on the success of this clean technology company.  You’ll have an opportunity to work on complex and interesting projects helping customers change the way their heating and power systems are deployed and managed.


  • Design components of energy systems while ensuring technical quality and compliance with manufacturing requirements
  • Create 3-D models/concepts and 2D manufacturing drawings for new products and components
  • Developing specs for fabrication & installation of component/systems.
  • Provide engineering support to production/manufacturing group during production and build cycle
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend process improvements that will increase productivity and decrease costs




  • Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Desig
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in equipment and plant design




5+ years of experience in equipment design with the following:


  • Wood fuel and ash handling equipment
  • Combustion equipment
  • Process equipment and systems
  • Sheet metal fabrication and piping
  • Structural steel design
  • Installation procedures and equipment
  • Proficient with Autocad and Inventor
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental and quality standards
    •     Analytical troubleshooter with the ability to anticipate problems
    • Excellent communicator who actively contributes to meetings and shares ideas
