At WSP our Environmental Management group are providing field and laboratory testing services to position WSP as a leader in the market. We're looking for a Materials Technologist to join the Materials group and to be located at our Langley, BC office. Reporting to the Materials Laboratory Supervisor you will oversee field and laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates in accordance with CSA and ASTM test procedures, and providing support to the materials engineering team

A day in the life:
•As a Materials Technologist, you will perform destructive and non-destructive testing of concrete, both in the field and the laboratory;
•You will conduct maintenance on laboratory equipment;
•You will maintain records, and complete regular calibration testing in compliance with requirements for certification with Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL);
•You will perform aggregate qualification testing programs in accordance with procedures outlined in CSA and ASTM;
•You will conduct routine in-field concrete and soil compaction testing;
•You will provide field support to the materials engineering team for completion of condition assessment and rehabilitation work for existing infrastructure;
•You will perform field testing and quality assurance reviews at construction sites;
•You will prepare laboratory test reports, and field review reports;
•You will follow and abide by WSP's health and safety policy.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
•A post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;
•5 to10 years of relevant experience is an asset;
•Registered or eligible for registration as a Technologist in British Columbia;
•Experience in concrete testing;
•Adaptable to changing work environment;
•Can safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
•Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or with a team;
•Good technical writing skills; and Excellent communication, both written and verbal;
•A valid driver's license.
